Although renowned in the jazz and pop world, Chieli is also a gifted television and film composer. He has won 3 Emmy Awards and been nominated 10 times for his eclectic compositional work. His music can be heard on the soundtracks of the films 'Bowfinger', 'Legally Blonde', 'Panic', 'No Country For Old Men' and others. Chieli Minucci released his 30th anniversary CD, 'Genesis' in 2013.
'Genesis' celebrates Special EFX’s beginnings and is a testament to Chieli’s enduring vision. Minucci welcomes back longtime bandmembers, bassist Jerry Brooks, drummer Lionel Cordew and keyboardist Jay Rowe, all whom have been part of the ensemble for the past two decades; EFX alums saxophonist Dave Mann and legendary drummer Omar Hakim also make a return. The signature track, 'Crazy Eights', was Most Added on the Billboard jazz chart.
Demonstrating "extraordinary range and technical finesse” (JazzTimes Magazine), Chieli's career with Special EFX and as a solo artist combine for a total of 27 releases and countless worldwide tours. Chieli’s influences are numerous, including The Beatles, Pat Metheny and Tommy Dorsey.
